I remember my dad driving us through the ghost towns just before they were flooded, I was 7 yrs old. I can still remember the same landscape seen in these photos. Thank you for taking the time to post them for all of us to see. I had a dream recently about that last trip and so I did a search, what a wonderful suprise to find this site!

My Great Grandma Ola Mae Knight and my Grandparents Martin and Rosemary (Knight) Sevcik both had homes and property right on the river. The lane to their homes ran right down to the covered bridge. My Great Aunt Anna Heslet also lost her home in Dora. I remember the place well and the bridge and in 1964 I was only 8 years old . My Uncle Tom Sevcik proposed to his wife Ann Beers on that bridge and later his daughter Kathy was proposed to on it, after the bridge had been moved, but before it was burnt down by vandals. The building of the Reservoir really devastated our family and many others. A number of years ago, before she passed away, I took my Grandmother over to the reservoir to see if she could remember where the old place had been. Even though many years had gone by, it just dredged up sad old memories and got her upset to be there. I imagine most of those who were displaced are now gone and only those who were children then are really left.
